Want a home with no utility bills?

McGrath Architects, P.C. recently passed an exam to become a Certified Passive House Consultant through the Passive House Institute United States.  The Passive House Standard is the most rigorous building energy standard in the world. Consultants, projects or building components that have obtained the
right to carry the logo have committed themselves to design excellence and the Passive House energy performance criteria.  Certified Passive House™ and the related Logo are certification marks owned by the Passive House Institute US | PHIUS and is used by permission.  Passive houses are airtight buildings that use heat from appliances and even the occupants' bodies for warmth. They have thick insulation, are oriented to maximize winter sun and use a heat exchanger to warm outside air that circulates throughout. The result is a house that needs little or no extra energy for heating, even in very cold climates. Click here to learn more or download this Snug and Tight-Inside a Passive House.pdf.
